Popular All My Children favorite Cameron Mathison (ex-Ryan Lavery) has joined Entertainment Tonight. Mathison will serve as a full-time correspondent during the week and co-anchor on the weekend. He'll also serve as a fill-in weekday anchor as needed.
"THRILLED to join the @entertainmenttonight team," Mathison shared on Twitter. "Can't wait to be on tomorrow."
This isn't Mathison's first stint as a part of an entertainment news program. He has previousl appeared on Extra and Good Morning America, in addition to ET.
"Cameron is hard working, charismatic, comfortable on set, on the red carpets and in intimate celebrity one-on-ones," executive producer Brad Bessey said in a statement. "He's joined us for special assignments throughout the year, and we are thrilled that he is now a permanent member of the Entertainment Tonight team."
Reports say that Mathison's hiring is a calculated move to appeal to the soap-watching demographic, women 25 to 54.
Mathison hosted SOAPnet's I Wanna Be a Soap Star and the 2008 Daytime Emmys ceremony. He's also strutted his stuff on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
In addition to his Entertainent Tonight duties, Mathison is scheduled to appear alongside Days of our Lives favorite Alison Sweeney in Hallmark Movies and Mysteries' Murder She Bakedin May.
