All My Children fans will definitely want to tune in to Live! with Kelly and Ryan this Halloween, because hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest have resurrected the legendary soap opera.
But the tricks and treats don't stop there: the hosts invited former Pine Valley residents Eva LaRue (ex-Maria Santos) and Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane) to the show in order to make the Halloween reboot -- or rather re"boo"t -- of the former daytime drama a smashing success.
Ripa, who played Hayley Vaughan on the ABC soap opera from 1990 to 2002, shared the exciting AMC reboot news on Monday's episode of the talk show, adding that Seacrest will be playing the role of Jackson Montgomery (originally played by Walt Willey).
The actress enthused that her talk show costar was actually quite good in the role, having nailed the Pine Valley attorney perfectly -- despite never having seen an episode of All My Children. Seacrest replied that he worked hard to memorize all of his lines because Lucci was his acting partner, and he "didn't want to be the one who screwed up the scenes and had to make her do it again."
And speaking of Lucci, Ripa admitted that the second she was back in the presence of the legendary lady, she was intimidated all over again.
"Isn't it amazing how iconic she is? She walks in, and immediately, everybody is like, 'Erica Kane is here!'" Ripa shared. "And right away, I went back to being intimidated -- in the best way, not like in a scary way, but just like, because she's so iconic, that you can't believe that she's standing there."
LaRue also shared the news of the AMC reboot, tweeting a photo of her reunion with Lucci and Ripa along with the trivia tidbit that Ripa gave her and Maria Santos the nickname Dr. Tits & Tan.
