Did you really think that the powers that be at Days of our Lives would give viewers a Christmas without Sami Brady now that Alison Sweeney is signed on for a long stint with the series? That would have been like Santa trying to fly his sleigh without Rudolph -- crazy wrong! So, yeah, Sami will be returning to the canvas soon. But when?
According to She Knows, Sweeney will be popping onto viewers' screens this Thursday, December 24. And we chose the phrase "popping back" because, just like the speed at which popcorn disappears from the bowl, her appearance will be super quick: Sami will be seen in what's being called a "very important" Zoom call with her daughter, Allie (Lindsay Arnold).
Sweeney took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday, December 16, with a post that showed her dressed for the holidays and back at work at DAYS, along with the caption, "It's wearing-a-Christmas-sweater-to-work Wednesday." The show's head writer, Ron Carlivati, confirmed Sweeney's upcoming appearance by retweeting a fan's Twitter post with the caption, "Next week on @nbcdays... #days #sami @Ali_Sweeney @lindsayarnoldd."
There's no telling when Sweeney will be back on the canvas for real, but it shouldn't be too much longer. As Soap Central previously reported, Sami is set to return full-time for an emotional storyline involving Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) and the couple's recently SORASed daughter, Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold). That story, according to DAYS' executive producer, Ken Corday, will keep Sweeney and her alter ego on-screen through most of 2021.
Sweeney left DAYS in 2014 after starring in the show since 1993. During her time on the NBC soap, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category in 2015 and won the special Fan Emmy Award for America's Favorite Villain in 2002. She returned to the show in 2017 and has appeared on and off since then in various storylines.
