General Hospital fans can breathe a sigh of relief: William deVry (Julian Jerome) and the ABC soap have come to terms on a new deal that will keep the fan favorite actor on the show.
Executive Producer Frank Valentini made the announcement in a short -- but to the point -- tweet on Friday evening.
William deVry's status with GH has been up in the air since the actor filmed what could have been his final scenes back in late June. Fans have flooded ABC with tweets, emails, and calls demanding that the network do whatever was necessary to keep deVry on General Hospital. Earlier this week, deVry offered an update, saying that talks were going "very slow" but that he was "confidant" that things would work out. The actor added, "I feel like I'm being reasonable, and we'll get it done."
The news of deVry reaching a deal came out at about the same time that a previously scheduled tweet was sent out on the Soap Central twitter feed offering fans an update that talks were slowly progressing. deVry playfully replied, "I think the Deal is done."
He then turned serious and thanked fans for their support. "Thanks 2 fans 4 ur help/support/love," he wrote on Twitter. "Was always confidant, but took awhile eh?!?? Let's enjoy weekend! Hope 2Do interview w more deets soon!"
Details of the agreement between deVry and GH have not been disclosed. Soap Central has reached out to a GH spokesperson for comment, and this story will be updated as additional information is released.
