Michael Dempsey (Alan-Michael Spaulding) will be exiting his Guiding Light role later this year. Despite the timing of his departure, a show insider insists that Alan-Michael will not revealed as the person who shot Alan.
The role of Alan-Michael Spaulding was Dempsey's first regular role on television. As an actor, however, Dempsey made numerous appearances on primetime television. These nighttime roles included guest appearances on Boston Legal, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Practice.

The addition of Dempsey to the Guiding Light cast in November 2005 ended rumors that the show was bringing back an actor who had previously portrayed Alan-Michael on the show.
Unfortunately, it may have been easier for fans to accept Alan-Michael back into Springfield had they seen a familiar face in the role. An unpopular romantic pairing between Alan-Michael and Marina Cooper never caught on with fans.
A spokesperson for Guiding Light was not immediately available to comment on Dempsey's exit.
Dempsey last airs May 10, 2007. The role of Alan-Michael will not be recast.
