Oh, my God Jesus, NBC has a super spectacular musical in store for April! The peacock network is delivering a live musical titled Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert -- and it stars One Life to Live alum Jason Tam (ex-Markko Rivera).
Serving as a follow-up to NBC's production of Hairspray in 2016, the televised version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera is set to wow. John Legend has taken on the role of Jesus Christ; Brandon Victor Dixon will play Judas Iscariot; Sara Bareilles will play Mary Magdalene; Jin Ha will play Annas; rock legend Alice Cooper will play King Herod; and Tam has taken on the role of Peter.
Jesus Christ Superstar delves into how fame and legends can alter a person's perception, and it does so by making Jesus Christ not just a prophet but a celebrity.
Tam took to social media with an official photo from the production, writing: "Eyeliner? Check. Bracelets? Check. Back lighting and front lighting? Check. New shots for #JesusChristSuperstar."
The actor, who starred on OLTL from 2007 to 2012, also shared that he can't believe he's working alongside John Legend (who has an appropriate name, given his status among fans).
"I'm thrilled to be playing Peter in #JesusChristSuperstarLive!" Tam wrote. "I'll mostly be non-stop-gazing adoringly at John Legend for two hours on live TV!"
NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert is set to premiere on Sunday, April 1.
