Ian Buchanan won his first Emmy award in 1997 as Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Dr. James Warwick in The Bold and the Beautiful, the fourth time he was nominated in that category. He joined the cast in October 1993.
After emigrating from his native Hamilton, Scotland, Ian began his acting career by playing Duke Lavery in the daytime drama General Hospital. Three years later, he joined the cast of It's Garry Shandling's Show as Ian. He has appeared in numerous primetime/ television shows, including The Equalizer and The Flash, both on CBS; Columbo and Quantum Leap. His stage credits include Los Angeles productions of Equus (which garnered him a Drama-Logue award), The Heiress, and The Maids. He also starred in Love and Anger at the West Coast Ensemble.
A chance meeting with director David Lynch while he was taping a Calvin Klein commercial with Lara Flynn Boyle led to his role as the pompous Richard Tremayne in Twin Peaks. Following the finale of that show, Lynch cast him in the series On the Air. Ian's feature film credits include Bobby and Marilyn, Double Exposure, The Cool Surface, and The Seventh Sign. His birth date is June 16.
