Peter Reckell was raised in Michigan. He worked his way through the Boston Conservatory as a singing waiter. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in theater and a minor in music and dance, Reckell moved to New York City to further his music career. His musical stage accomplishments are many, including Carousel, Jesus Christ, Superstar, and Guys and Dolls. Peter made his television debut on As the World Turns as Eric Hollister, a role he portrayed for two years. Soon afterward, he landed the role of Bo Brady.
Needing a change after four years on daytime, Reckell moved to primetime and began a two-year run on the hit series Knots Landing. Before his 1993 return to Days of our Lives, Reckell added several film appearances to his credits, including the Russian film Broken Bridges produced by Oscar winner Rustam Ibraguimbekov.
Over the years Reckell has accrued many accolades for his portrayal of Bo Brady. In addition to being voted Number One Male in Daytime Television, he received Soap Opera Digest awards for Outstanding Actor and Hottest Male Star.
Reckell is a dedicated environmentalist and avid cyclist who often bikes to work. Reckell and his wife, Kelly Moneymaker, reside in Los Angeles. His birthday is May 7.
