Her name was Lola. She was a... well, more on that in a minute.
This has been one heck of a week for casting news out of The Young and the Restless. Hot on the heels of the news that Alice Hunter has been cast as Kerry Johnson, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) has opted to go recurring, and former head writer Josh Griffith is back in Genoa City in a producing role comes news that the CBS soap has added another member to its new Rosales family.
Actress Sasha Calle, known for her role as Virginia on Socially Awkward, has signed on to the daytime series as Lola, the sister of Arturo (Jason Canela) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso).
"It's official!" the actress tweeted. "Thank you The Young and the Restless, CBS Daytime, Sony and executive producer Mal Young for this beautiful opportunity! You have changed my life! And now with great honor, tune in every day... to see Lola Rosales and the Rosales family as they are welcomed to GC."
Not much else is known about Lola. It's unclear if she was a showgirl or if she has an affinity for putting yellow feathers in her hair. What is clear, however, is that the Rosales family seems to be here to stay.
Y&R introduced Canela's Arturo, Genoa City's first Rosales family member, in February of this year. Vilasuso joined the CBS soap opera as Arturo's brother, Rey, and just made his debut earlier this month. Calle is slated to make her Y&R debut on Friday, September 14.
p> Just like recently announced Y&R newbie Alice Hunter (Kerry Johnson), Calle is a singer/songwriter in addition to being an actress. Fans can check out her Instagram page here and her YouTube page here.
